For a semester in Amman, choose a mobile plan by its total cost, renewal terms and reception inside your building. A large arrival allowance can be useful, but it may last only ten days or change when you renew. Zain Jordan, Orange Jordan and Umniah all sell prepaid options for visitors.

Students at German Jordanian University (GJU) in Jabal Amman should test the line on their everyday campus route and inside their apartment. The offers below are visitor and prepaid products students can consider; they are not university discounts or offers endorsed by the university. Prices are in Jordanian dinars (JOD).

Using the stated setup fee, Umniah’s first payment calculates to about JOD 10.02 for the 10-day line and JOD 20.09 for the 30-day line, before any optional extras. The 10-day product specifies non-Arab visitors; check your eligibility before selecting it. Its terms also say the line cannot migrate to other packages. The online visitor range is advertised as online-exclusive, so confirm the purchase channel and collection arrangements.

Which option fits the way you use your phone?

For an arrival period of up to ten days, compare the two short-stay offers on the total first payment and the service you need. Their allowances and eligibility differ. If you need a month from the start, a 30-day offer avoids renewing during your first round of university or work appointments.

For a semester, write down the renewal terms before comparing the first month. Zain Jordan’s extra 20 GB is limited to the first three subscriptions. Orange Jordan’s Short Visit renewal changes the allowance. A useful starting offer can still be inconvenient if its later data allowance is too small for your routine.

If most of your reading, video lectures and downloads happen over home or campus Wi-Fi, you may value a reliable local number more than hundreds of gigabytes. If you regularly work from a laptop away from Wi-Fi, ask about tethering and the package’s fair-use conditions. Choose from your actual usage; a plan with unused data is still money spent.

Orange Jordan: what changes after the first ten days?

The Short Visit Line starts with the ten-day allowance in the table. Its published renewal is JOD 7 excluding tax for 30 days, with 10 GB, 1,000 local minutes, 1,000 local texts, 20 international minutes and 10 international texts. Budget from the tax-inclusive renewal amount shown in your account, rather than treating JOD 7 as the final charge.

You can manage bundles in the Max it app, check balances with *155# and renew with *152#. International minutes apply to the offer’s named destinations. The first bundle does not repeat unchanged at renewal. Orange Jordan renewal and balance terms.

Umniah: visitor eligibility and setup

Umniah’s general visitor guidance accepts a valid passport without a Jordanian identity card and describes its visitor plans as having no commitment. Check the particular product’s conditions as well, especially the non-Arab visitor restriction on the 10-day line. Keep the setup charge separate from the bundle when comparing a new line with a renewal.

The 30-day product includes local calls across local networks; its terms also cover landlines within the free other-network minutes. Germany is among its listed international destinations. The international allowance is a bundle of minutes, so it does not make every overseas call free. Use the operator’s app to check the balance and expiry. Umniah 30-day calling and renewal terms.

Zain Jordan: a monthly offer with a temporary data bonus

The Zain 13 5G card displays JOD 17.70 including tax, with unlimited local calls and texts. Its base data allowance is 40 GB; the 20 GB bonus lasts for the first three subscriptions. Physical-card collection is listed at the airport shop, while digital activation is on arrival. Make sure the order summary names the offer you want and shows the amount for subsequent subscriptions. Coverage near campus and inside your apartment

The useful test is whether your phone works where you need it. Try an ordinary call and a mobile-data connection inside your room, then on your campus route. Thick walls, room position, your handset and network load can affect the result. A national coverage map cannot guarantee reception at a particular desk.

Start with a prepaid commitment you can manage. Avoid buying a long bundle solely because someone else has good reception in another neighbourhood. For campus addresses and building distinctions, use our German Jordanian University (GJU) Jabal Amman guide.

Phone plans, internet-only cards and home connections

A phone plan with local calls, messages and data is useful as your everyday contact line. An internet-only card serves a different purpose: it may suit a tablet or router, but does not replace local calling and text allowances. Check device compatibility before buying a card for a router.

Home internet is another separate decision. Ask about the connection, shared use and any limits at your apartment before buying a large mobile package to cover your laptop. Our apartments for rent near German Jordanian University (GJU) for international students offer room and whole-apartment arrangements in Jabal Amman. Confirm internet provisions, price and bills for the particular unit.
