Call 911 for an ambulance in Jordan when someone needs emergency medical help. Give the location first, then describe what has happened and follow the dispatcher’s instructions. An insurance call, a search for a clinic or a message to a university office should not delay that call.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) describes its ambulance-request service as available around the clock, without required documents, and free of charge. That describes the public ambulance service, not free private hospital treatment or a private ambulance. PSD ambulance service. The separate hospital numbers come from Al Khalidi’s emergency department.

What to tell the dispatcher

  • The full location: Amman, district, street, building number and a nearby recognisable landmark.
  • The usable entrance, floor, apartment or room, and whether stairs or a locked door affect access.
  • What happened, how many people need help and the person’s current condition as you can describe it.
  • A telephone number where the dispatcher can reach you.
  • Any immediate hazard at the location that responders need to know about.

Answer the questions as clearly as you can. Follow the dispatcher’s instructions and stay available. If another person can safely meet the responders at the entrance, ask them to do so. Keep the route clear without putting yourself or anyone else at risk.

Save a location pin and the address in writing before an emergency happens. The Jabal Amman address and walking guide explains why street names, entrances and stairways need to be distinguished. A pin on the back of a building can be unhelpful when the usable entrance is on another street.

A hospital emergency department in the Fourth Circle area

Al Khalidi Hospital publishes a 24-hour emergency department and ambulance service, with laboratory and imaging services available around the clock, including holidays. Its main address is 39 Ibn Khaldoun Street, Fourth Circle. The ambulance hotline is +962 79 199 0199; the department can also be reached through +962 6 464 4281, extension 504. Hospital emergency service details.

Emergency dispatch should determine the response appropriate to the situation; this address is not an instruction to bypass emergency help or choose a hospital solely by proximity. If a clinician or dispatcher gives a destination or transport instruction, follow it. A private facility’s availability also does not establish coverage under your insurance.

Keep documents available without delaying care

If they are readily accessible, take identification, the insurance card, a medicine list and relevant allergy information. Someone accompanying you can bring these or contact your insurer when it is safe to do so. Keep the insurer’s assistance number and policy reference separate from a phone that might be unavailable.

For a non-governmental organisation (NGO) assignment, know the employer’s medical-assistance route before the first day. German Jordanian University (GJU) students should save the current student-cover contact and any university emergency reporting instructions. These are useful follow-up contacts alongside the public emergency service.

Insurance and payment after the immediate response

Contact the insurer or assistance provider as soon as practical when referred for treatment. Ask about the receiving facility, emergency authorisation, direct billing and the documents it needs. Record the assistance reference and the name of the person handling the case. The health-insurance guide explains how direct billing and reimbursement differ.

At a private hospital, request an explanation of deposits and charges when the clinical situation allows. Keep itemised bills, receipts, medical reports and discharge instructions. A public ambulance being free does not establish what a hospital, medicine or later appointment will cost.

After discharge

  • Keep the written instructions and arrange the follow-up the treating team requests.
  • Check that you understand the prescribed medicine names and directions before leaving.
  • Ask who to contact about a treatment concern and what symptoms require immediate reassessment.
  • Arrange a suitable way home and any help you need at the entrance or stairs.
  • Send claim documents through the insurer’s agreed secure channel and retain copies.

Use the routine-care guide for planned follow-up and pharmacy contacts. If the condition becomes an emergency again, use 911 rather than waiting for an ordinary appointment. Keep your healthcare contacts with your accommodation address so another person can help you find them.

People considering apartments for rent in Jabal Amman for international students preparing for their stay can ask about the owner’s four apartments, rented by room or as a whole apartment. Confirm the building entrance and address when arranging the stay, and save those details with your own emergency contacts.
