Student discounts and low-cost ways to enjoy Amman

Use student proof carefully, compare resident admission and education software, and calculate whether a discount card or weekly routine will save you money.

Begin with benefits you can actually use: your university facilities, software required for class and the places you plan to visit. A discount is useful when you qualify and would buy the service anyway. A card carrying the word “student” does not establish a reduced fare at every shop or museum in Amman.

Keep the right proof available

Carry your current German Jordanian University (GJU) student card, with an enrolment letter available where a provider requests it. For a resident admission rate, ask which residence document the venue accepts. Student status, age and residency are different eligibility conditions; choose the one listed for the offer.

Before ordering or buying a ticket, ask whether the offer applies to your nationality and status, the exact service, that day and your chosen payment method. Establish whether a booking is required and whether the advertised saving excludes taxes, equipment or another compulsory purchase. Keep the offer wording with your booking confirmation.

International Student Identity Card: eligibility and limits

The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is available to full-time students at school, college or university, with no upper age limit under the association’s general eligibility information. You must prove current full-time status. Its application guidance asks for dated student evidence or an institutional letter, proof of date of birth and a recent passport-sized photograph.

The association lists an issue-country-dependent price range of 4 to 25 euros, with validity generally following that country’s academic cycle. Check the actual issuing office’s price and expiry before paying. Search the specific local benefit and read its terms; holding an ISIC does not establish that a particular Amman business participates. ISIC eligibility, cost and validity.

For a simple break-even example, a card costing the equivalent of 12 JD needs more than 12 JD of savings on things you would otherwise purchase. Three eligible purchases saving 5 JD each would save 15 JD, leaving 3 JD after that example card cost. Those figures illustrate the calculation and are not an advertised Jordan card price or local discount.

Check education software before buying a subscription

Autodesk offers eligible students and educators free one-year educational access to its products, renewable while eligible. Verification is required and educational use is subject to its terms; this is not a commercial-work licence. For architecture or design coursework, ask your lecturer which product and version the class uses before installing it. Autodesk Education access and conditions.

Microsoft provides Office 365 A1 without charge to eligible students and educators at eligible institutions using a school email address. Eligibility and the institution’s plan determine the available applications; free A1 access should not be read as a promise of every desktop application. Check through your university account before paying for a separate subscription. Microsoft Education eligibility.

If your course already provides a tool, use the university’s instructions for access and support. Save personal work before an account ends, and check what you may retain after your enrolment. The design-supplies guide covers physical materials, which can remain a substantial expense even when software access is free.

Resident admission can be a separate saving

The Royal Tank Museum lists adult admission at 2 JD for Jordanians and residents and 5 JD for visitors to Jordan. This is a residency category, not a universal student price. Ask which proof the museum accepts for your circumstances before travelling. Its regular hours are 10:00 to 18:00 except Tuesday, with the last ticket sold at 17:00. Museum admission and hours.

The free activities and student-entry guide gives further venue-specific options. For a museum outing, add transport to the entrance price. Two places with the same ticket charge can lead to quite different afternoon totals if one needs a car in each direction.

The university library locations page distinguishes campus facilities; do not make an unnecessary journey to the main campus for a service available locally. For food, the grocery-basket guide and affordable-meals guide let you compare cooking with eating out.

Students comparing apartments for rent in Amman for students keeping to a semester budget can ask about the owner’s four Jabal Amman apartments, available by room or as a whole apartment. Request the actual rental terms and included costs, then add the expenses you will pay separately. No student discount or bill inclusion is assumed here.
