Choose the trail before arranging the journey. A two-hour village walk, a long descent through Wadi Dana and a wet canyon at Wadi Mujib have different demands. Match the route, season and transport to everyone taking part, then confirm the reserve is accepting visitors for that activity.
Book with the reserve authority
The Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) publishes 2026 trail tariffs and reservation contacts. Contact [email protected], +962 6 515 7656 or +962 79 700 0086 with the date, trail, party size and visitor categories. Explain any access, health or swimming concern before accepting a route.
Dana: short routes and longer hikes
| Dana trail | Published duration | Jordanian / resident / non-Jordanian |
|---|---|---|
| Dana Village, Rummana Mountain, Rummana Campsite or Caves | Up to two hours | 6 / 8 / 10 JD |
| Shaq El Reesh or Nawatef | Two to three hours | 7 / 10 / 12 JD |
| White Dome | Three to four hours | 7 / 10 / 12 JD |
| Wadi Dana | Six to seven hours | 14 / 17 / 20 JD |
| Wadi Ghweir | Eight hours | 14 / 17 / 20 JD |
Prices are per person in Jordanian dinars (JD). The 2026 Dana trail sheet states that tax, reserve admission and guiding are included. It gives group ranges of six to twenty for the shorter listed trails and ten to twenty for the longer routes. For routes marked with an asterisk, transport to the start and from the finish to the visitor centre is excluded. Ask how the quoted group requirement applies to your booking.
Tell the reserve which endpoint your driver can reach. A long route that ends away from the start requires a collection arrangement; walking back to retrieve a car can be a second substantial journey. Get the route name, start, finish, guide and transport responsibilities in the confirmation.
Dana’s seasonal differences
The Jordan Tourism Board describes the Dana Village route as available year-round, with guided or self-guided options. It lists Rummana routes between 15 March and 31 October. White Dome uses that seasonal window and a licensed guide, with a Ramadan exception; Shaq al-Reesh also requires a guide and has a Ramadan exception. Tourism Board route descriptions.
Use the reserve’s current operating decision for your date. A published seasonal window does not override a weather closure, and a general self-guided description does not establish that a particular guided tariff can be bought without its booking conditions.
Wadi Mujib: wet and dry routes
| Mujib trail | Published format and duration | Jordanian / resident / non-Jordanian |
|---|---|---|
| Siq | Self-guided; two to three hours | 17 / 21 / 23 JD |
| Ibex | Guided; three to four hours | 17 / 20 / 23 JD |
The 2026 Mujib tariff says prices include tax; guiding is included for the guided trail, while Siq is the self-guided exception. It lists a group range of one to one hundred for Siq and six to twenty-five for Ibex. Contact the Mujib team on +962 79 720 3888 or [email protected] about operation and participation.
RSCN’s visitor rules restrict wet trails to adults aged at least eighteen and describe Siq’s usual season as April through October, subject to conditions. Reserve visitor rules. Confirm the current opening and entry cutoff before leaving. Ask about swimming ability, supplied safety equipment, secure storage and footwear; self-guided access still involves registration and staff instructions.
Keep canyon access dependent on conditions
Check the weather with the Jordan Meteorological Department and follow the reserve’s decision. Rain upstream can affect a canyon even when the entrance looks clear. If the activity closes, use a different plan and do not enter through an unofficial access point.
Carry the equipment the reserve specifies, drinking water and suitable clothing. For a wet activity, plan dry clothes and a way to protect essential documents. Tell the guide about any change in how you feel and follow the briefing. The seasonal health guide covers heat and hydration.
Budget for the entire journey
A non-Jordanian Siq participant’s listed trail charge is 23 JD. If four people agree a hypothetical 80 JD return vehicle, that adds 20 JD each, giving 43 JD before food or other extras. The vehicle figure is an example calculation, not a transport quote. A Dana booking may add a separate trail-end transfer, so include it explicitly.
Check that your insurance covers the actual hiking or canyon activity, with any guide or equipment conditions. Allow for travel time and rest when choosing the following day’s classes or work. The Dead Sea guide provides a separate coastal outing, and the Jordan trips hub helps spread longer journeys across the semester.
The owner’s four apartments are available by room or as a whole apartment for people considering apartments for rent in Jabal Amman for students planning Jordan nature trips. Confirm the rental address and terms, and give any booked driver the correct entrance for your early departure.
