Use the published university calendar for registration, classes and exams, with practical steps for programme deadlines, weekend trips and semester-end travel.

Put the exam period into your calendar before booking a trip home. German Jordanian University (GJU) publishes an academic calendar, but a course’s assessment instructions and a programme’s teaching arrangements still need their own entries. Keep the university-wide dates and your personal deadlines together.

For Jabal Amman students, record the actual teaching building alongside every in-person session. The campus near Madaba is a separate destination. The classroom-finding guide explains how to resolve a room code before your first journey.

Make a personal calendar from the official one

Add registration, assessment and travel reminders with enough time to act. Keep a task such as uploading a document separate from the date the office must receive it. If something depends on an approval, record when you need to request that approval as well.

For each course, add the room or online link, weekly start time and submission method. Keep the latest assignment brief beside the deadline. A calendar entry that says only “project due” is less useful than one that includes the file format, delivery channel and responsible instructor.

Check your own assessment arrangements

  • Which exam or submission dates are confirmed for my teaching group?
  • Are studio reviews, presentations or practical assessments outside the standard exam slot?
  • What are the attendance, late-submission and absence procedures for this course?
  • Does a submission close at a particular time of day or require a physical hand-in?
  • Who should I contact if an approved adjustment or illness affects an assessment?

Read the course instructions and ask the programme office where the rule is unclear. Do not infer an absence allowance from another student’s course. Save any approval or revised deadline in writing, and keep a submission acknowledgement after uploading work.

Plan weekends around the next task

Before a day trip, look at the following week’s classes and submissions. Finish a file transfer or print job before leaving if the return connection or timing could make it difficult. Give yourself room for a delayed return rather than making the last bus a condition of meeting a deadline.

Use the Amman activities guide for shorter outings during busy weeks. For a longer visit to Petra, compare Jordan Wanderer, Jordan Explorer and Jordan Expert against the dates you can actually keep free.

Holidays and office-dependent tasks

Check the current university notice for holidays, especially where the calendar marks an expected date. A break in teaching does not guarantee that a particular office or service is open. Complete staff-dependent tasks before a closure if possible and keep the relevant contact details available.

For library work, use the study-space guide to plan around published opening days. For an online submission, test the connection and account access ahead of the deadline; the internet guide helps with uploads and a backup connection.

Before booking the journey home

Confirm the last assessment you must attend and any required follow-up, project review or document collection. Check your entry and residence position separately from the teaching calendar. A final exam date and the date you can safely finish every administrative task may differ.

Keep departure transport, handover arrangements and final payments on their own checklist. Save the academic records you will need through the university’s approved process while your account access is active. Ask the responsible office about later documents rather than assuming they will be ready on your last class day.

Match accommodation dates to the whole stay

Our apartments for rent in Jabal Amman for the academic year are available by room or as whole apartments. Agree the actual dates, price and any extension arrangements before booking. Include the arrival period and the time needed after your last assessment, rather than using only the first and last teaching dates.
