You can ask for a mental health appointment without having a diagnosis ready. Explain what is affecting your daily life and whether you want counselling, an assessment or help continuing existing treatment. Ask the service to identify an appropriate professional and a time you can attend.

Counselling, assessment and psychiatric care

A talking-therapy appointment, a psychological assessment and a medical review for psychiatric treatment serve different purposes. Tell the booking team if you already take medicine or have a treatment plan, and ask which clinician can handle that need. Keep your current prescriber involved in any change to prescribed treatment.

For a semester at German Jordanian University (GJU), ask student services which support and referral arrangements are available to you. For a non-governmental organisation (NGO) assignment, check whether there is confidential employee support or a separate medical administrator. Decide what you want to share with a supervisor; a full personal history is not necessary for an ordinary leave request.

Before confirming an appointment

QuestionWhy it matters
Who will I see, and what is their professional role? You may need a different professional for therapy, assessment or prescribing.
What is the fee and session length?Compare the actual service and ask about cancellation charges.
What records should I bring?Earlier reports can help with continuity of care.
How is confidentiality handled?Ask about legal or safety exceptions and how records are stored.
Can I use insurance?Check coverage with your own insurer, including receipts and approval.

MSC’s first-visit information describes confidentiality with limited exceptions, such as serious safety risk or legal requirements, which the clinician explains. Ask any provider about its own policy. For online appointments, choose a private place where you can speak freely, and agree what happens if the connection fails.

Keep the cost and schedule workable

Before accepting a recurring appointment, calculate the session fee, travel and any separate prescription or assessment charge. For example, four sessions at a hypothetical 40 JD each would total 160 JD before travel. That is a budgeting example, not a price attributed to either provider. The insurance guide explains reimbursement and exclusions.

Choose a frequency with the treating professional that fits the care plan and your class or work timetable. Keep the next booking and the contact for changing it. A routine that includes sleep, meals and supportive contact can sit alongside professional care; the activities and making-friends guide offers practical social options without presenting them as treatment.

If help is needed immediately

For immediate danger or a medical emergency in Jordan, call 911 or seek an emergency department. The emergency-help guide gives the local dispatch and hospital contacts. Ordinary booking forms and appointment messages are not emergency services.

The Jordanian Clinical Psychologists Association (JCPA) Hotline provides free, confidential support around the clock for people in Jordan concerned about suicide or self-harm, including concern about someone else. Call 00962795440416. If there is immediate danger, use the emergency service.

For rooms for rent in Jabal Amman for international students building a steady routine, the owner offers four apartments by room or as a whole apartment. Confirm the actual household and access arrangements you need. Housing is a practical part of the stay; clinical care and privacy arrangements should be agreed directly with the professional.
