For a first bus journey from Jabal Amman, choose a trip you can practise without a deadline. Find the boarding point, pay before travelling and save the return route. The steep walk between your building and the stop can matter as much as the time on the bus.

The operator name and the two types of service

The official operator site now uses Vision City Bus, or باص رؤية. Older links and the app identifier still use Amman Bus. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is the rapid-bus part of the network; ordinary city routes connect other streets and districts. Use the operator website to reach the current route and app pages.

German Jordanian University (GJU) students in Jabal Amman should enter their local teaching building as their starting point or destination. A search for the university alone can send you toward the main campus near Madaba. The campus guide helps identify the right building before you plan a bus trip.

Useful routes to investigate from this part of Amman

RoutePublished endpointsFare in JD
55First Circle to Sports City Circle.0.60
60Second Circle, Zaha Cultural Centre and City Mall.0.60
99, BRTJordan Museum to Sweileh.0.60
100, BRTJisr Al-Murabbat to Sweileh.0.60

These fares come from the operator’s tariff dated 6 July 2026. The official fare table also lists 0.70 JD for route 102 between Zarqa and Sports City, 0.85 JD for route 104 between Sweileh and Zarqa, and 1.10 JD for route 105 between Prince Hamzah Hospital and Madaba. Route endpoints do not mean that every bus passes your street.

The operator publishes separate maps for route 55, route 60 and route 99. Use the direction you need, then identify the actual boarding stop. A bus travelling towards the right district on the opposite carriageway can still be the wrong vehicle for your journey.

Pay before you board

The operator accepts its loaded smart card, a loaded virtual QR card and bank cards; cash is not accepted on Vision City Bus or BRT. You can obtain a free virtual QR card through the app and load travel credit. The payment page explains the available methods and sales points. “Free virtual card” refers to creating the card, not free bus travel.

Have your chosen payment ready at the reader and check that it is accepted. Keep enough balance for the return and any separate connection. If you intend to use a bank card, carry a loaded operator-card option for a journey that cannot wait for a payment problem to be resolved.

Plan the journey in the app

  • Open the app through the official download page so you reach the operator-linked version.
  • Set your real starting point manually if the phone location is wrong.
  • Enter the destination building, then examine the suggested stops and direction.
  • Check the departure information, expected arrival, fare and any connection.
  • Save the return journey separately, including its last usable departure.

The app provides live information and estimated arrivals. Allow room for the walk, waiting and a connection rather than treating an estimate as a guaranteed arrival. Check the service for the day you travel; an outward journey in the morning does not establish an evening return.

Work out the cost of a week

A direct journey at 0.60 JD each way costs 1.20 JD a day. Five return trips total 6 JD; twenty travel days total 24 JD. If your route needs two separately charged 0.60 JD boardings each way, the same twenty days would cost 48 JD. These calculations assume every boarding is charged; apply a transfer concession only when the operator confirms it for your payment method and itinerary.

For a trip to City Mall, start by checking route 60 from the Second Circle and its current stops. For a journey towards Sweileh, compare access to route 99 at the Jordan Museum with any closer connection the app offers. Neither example establishes a flat or step-free walk from a particular apartment.

Keep an alternative for the final part of the trip

In hot weather, late in the evening or when carrying a heavy model, you may choose a car for part of the journey. The taxi guide explains that option, while accessible transport guide covers the access questions to settle before travelling. For main-campus travel, use the separate Amman and Madaba guide.

The owner offers four apartments by room or as a whole apartment for people considering apartments for rent in Jabal Amman with a practical bus commute. Confirm the exact entrance, walk to the stop and return route before deciding whether a location works for your regular schedule.
