Get the building name before planning the journey to your first class. German Jordanian University (GJU) has several Jabal Amman buildings, and the room information in a timetable needs to be read with the building. A general university address can take you towards the main campus near Madaba instead.
Keep the course, teaching group, full building and room together in your calendar. If one of those details is missing, ask the programme contact before travelling. The broad Jabal Amman campus guide covers student services; this guide concentrates on reaching the right classroom.
The three campus building names
The official campus-components page lists Darat Othman Bdeir, Darat Ibrahim Hashem and Beit Al Sabbagh. The campus office describes the Jabal Amman campus around First Circle. Save the spelling supplied by your programme alongside the timetable so different transliterations do not become different destinations. University campus building list; Jabal Amman campus overview.
| Building name | What to confirm for a class |
|---|---|
| Darat Othman Bdeir | The entrance and the particular room or studio in your timetable. |
| Darat Ibrahim Hashem | The teaching space, floor and route supplied by your programme. |
| Beit Al Sabbagh | Whether your class or appointment is in this building and which entrance to use. |
Do not assign a course to one of these buildings simply because another student studied there. Rooms, programme locations and appointments can differ. Keep the latest teaching message with the calendar entry so you can check an update on the way.
Read a timetable as a set of instructions
- Check the semester, course code and your teaching group.
- Read the date and the actual start time, including whether it is a one-off session.
- Identify the full building and room; do not guess what an unfamiliar abbreviation means.
- Check whether the session is in person, online or at another stated location.
- Look for a newer announcement that changes the room or start time.
Make a calendar entry with a reminder early enough to reach the entrance. Add the route from your accommodation, not from a city-centre landmark you will not be using that morning. Give yourself time to ask at the building if a door or room label is unfamiliar.
A message that gets the missing detail
Send the programme office or instructor your course code, group, class date and the room information you can see. Ask for the full building name, public arrival entrance and any access instruction you need. If you are avoiding steps, say so at this point rather than waiting until you reach a staircase.
Use your university email or the channel the programme specifies. Include a screenshot only if it helps identify the timetable entry, and leave unrelated personal details out. Save the answer beside the appointment so you do not have to search a long conversation before class.
Campus office contact
The Jabal Amman Campus Office lists [email protected] and +962 6 429 4444, extension 4482. Its contact page gives Jabal Amman, First Circle as the location. Use the office for campus orientation questions, and the academic programme for course-specific decisions. Official campus office contact.
When telephoning, have your question and building name ready. For a message about a classroom, include when you need the information. A general contact in the website footer may refer to another university location, so read the contact page for the service you want.
Try the first route in daylight
Save your own entrance and the confirmed campus entrance as separate pins. Check the walking route for crossings and steps before the first early class. A short map distance can still involve a climb. Avoid judging the return journey while carrying a large model or a full shopping bag for the first time.
Use the transport guide for bus payment and route examples if you are travelling farther. If you are meeting someone, agree a named entrance and keep the person’s contact number available. Public map pins help with orientation but do not replace the programme’s instruction about a teaching room.
Library and studio planning
The university lists the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) library at Daret Othman Bdeir in Jabal Amman. It publishes Sunday to Thursday opening from 8 am to 4 pm, with Friday, Saturday and holidays closed. University library locations and hours.
A library location does not identify every studio or class. Confirm borrowing, work-space and studio access for your student category, including any rules about materials or late work. The study spaces and libraries guide has public alternatives for periods when the campus library is closed.
If the room changes or you are running late
Read the latest programme message before leaving, and keep an earlier route only as a backup. If you cannot find the room, contact the person responsible with your present building and course details. Follow the university’s attendance and late-arrival procedure rather than assuming a delayed bus excuses an absence.
The semester planning guide helps you keep major dates separate from room and assessment announcements. Our first-week checklist covers the accounts and registration tasks around these journeys.
