Install the apps you expect to use before your first airport transfer, then save the information that still matters when an app cannot connect. An offline address and contact number can be more useful on arrival than a long list of downloads. Add services as you need them rather than giving every app broad access to your phone.

Download an area map before leaving Wi-Fi
In Google Maps, open your profile, choose Offline maps, then Select your own map. Adjust the area and download it while connected. Use the bus app for the actual journey

Install your own operator’s app

Save essential information outside the apps
- Accommodation address, entrance instructions and arrival contact.
- Passport and entry-approval details in a secure offline folder.
- University or workplace appointment, full building name and responsible office.
- Insurance assistance details and your card provider’s official contact.
- Flight and transport references, with a practical plan if a booking changes.
Keep copies protected and use a device lock. Give access to sensitive documents only to people who need it. A saved password or recovery code should not be placed in the same public note as a travel itinerary you plan to share.
Food delivery and location sharing

Share a location for a specific purpose, and choose the audience and duration you need. When meeting someone, add a named entrance or public landmark; a broad pin can leave you on opposite sides of a hill. Turn off sharing when it is no longer useful.
Prepare for losing a phone before it happens
Set up the device’s official location and recovery features while you have it. Keep the details needed to access a second trusted device, and choose a recovery method that does not rely entirely on the missing phone.
