German Jordanian University (GJU)’s Jabal Amman campus is around First Circle, within the older part of Amman. For students attending classes here, the building name on the timetable is as useful as the university name: the campus uses several heritage buildings, and the right entrance matters when planning your first journey.

This guide covers the campus, study facilities, digital tools and the practical decisions around living nearby. Use the first-week German Jordanian University (GJU) checklist for the order of your university tasks, and the first week in Amman guide for arrival and daily life.

The campus buildings and your first destination

German Jordanian University (GJU)’s Jabal Amman Campus Office identifies the campus around First Circle. Its facilities page names three buildings. Campus overview and campus buildings.

BuildingWhat to put in your arrival notes
Darat Othman BdeirSave the full building name. The School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) library is identified at this Jabal Amman location.
Darat Ibrahim HashemUse the building and room supplied by your programme when asking for directions.
Beit Al SabbaghKeep the exact spelling or Arabic name from your university message alongside its map pin.

Ask your programme for the building, entrance and room number for your first class. Save that message offline and share the entrance pin with the driver if you take a taxi. A generic university search result is not a substitute for the address on your timetable.

The campus office contact page lists Jabal Amman, First Circle, and [email protected]. The telephone is +962 6 429 4444, extension 4482. Use the office for campus location or facilities questions; use your academic programme for class allocation.

Which courses use Jabal Amman?

Your acceptance and course timetable determine where you need to be. German Jordanian University (GJU)’s first-semester 2026/2027 graduate announcement explicitly places several programmes at Jabal Amman, including:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Digital Marketing.
  • Master of Logistics Management.
  • Master of Computer Engineering, including Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) tracks, at the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) campus in Jabal Amman.
  • Master of Engineering Management.
  • Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management.

These are examples from that intake’s official programme announcement. If you take electives or attend a special event, confirm that session’s location separately. Keep the semester, course code and section in any message about a room or timetable.

The Admission and Registration Department handles enrolment-related records, transcripts, registration letters, course changes and academic calendars. Its email is [email protected]. Registration responsibilities and official contact directory. Include your student number and course details so the office can identify the request.

Visa and residence arrangements for your semester

The Ministry’s study visa service is submitted by a Jordanian educational institution for a student outside Jordan. It requires a passport or travel document valid for at least six months, proof of student status and relevant foreign residence documentation. Annual study residence is a separate institutional application after arrival, using the passport, latest entry stamp, student proof and previous permit for renewal. Study visa documents and study residence documents.

Keep a copy of the entry stamp as soon as you arrive and send the documents through the contact handling your student file. Put the end of your authorised stay in your calendar. For the nationality rules, registration deadlines, costs and extension process, read the Jordan visa and residence guide. A weekend sightseeing pass does not complete your student residence paperwork.

Library time and a workable study routine

The School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) library at Daret Othman Bdeir in Jabal Amman lists Sunday to Thursday hours of 08:00 to 16:00, with Friday, Saturday and holidays closed. Source: library locations and hours. Plan a separate place to work if your study period falls outside those hours.

Before a long library session, ask about access for your student category, borrowing and any equipment you need. For architecture or design work, make a list of the paper sizes, materials and file formats required before buying supplies. A basic notebook and a saved digital timetable are enough to organise the first day; specialist purchases can follow the actual course brief.

Keep your course files backed up and leave time between a class finishing and the next deadline. If you use a café to study, ask about laptop use, sockets and smoking before ordering for a long stay.

Living near campus: the questions that affect your day

For apartments for rent near German Jordanian University (GJU) in Jabal Amman, our four apartments offer room and entire-apartment arrangements. Match the address to your actual campus building, then agree on the duration, total price, deposit and the bills included before making plans around the property.

  • Ask for the entrance pin and the check-in contact, especially if you arrive late.
  • Confirm whether electricity, water and internet are included and whether usage limits apply.
  • Ask which kitchen, laundry, heating and cooling facilities are available in the unit you would book.
  • Check the desk, internet connection and noise arrangements against the way you study.
  • Test the campus route with the hills, stairs and crossings in mind; keep a transport alternative for days with luggage or difficult weather.

Keep the answers in writing. When you first walk the route, note the entrance you used and the time it took at your own pace. That makes the commute estimate useful for your timetable.

Food, errands and time away from classes

Start by finding one grocery shop for essentials and one dependable meal option near the route you actually use. For two Jabal Amman shawarma options, our Amman shawarma guide includes Reem at Second Circle and Shawerma 3a Saj around Rainbow Street, with branch details and menu links.

Keep excursions around teaching and assignment dates. The Wanderer, Explorer and Expert guides explain the different Petra admission allowances if you plan a visit during the semester. Decide which dates you can use before buying a package.
